White and Green Hydrangea Wedding at The Inn at Carnall Hall

Photos by: Courtney Garrett

In 2019, I designed a glorious, luxe wedding featuring blue hydrangeas for my client’s Beth Anne and Adam. It was featured on Arkansas Bride and remains one of all time favorite classic-style events to this day. I was beyond thrilled when Beth Anne’s sister Mary Kate came to me to design her 2023 wedding as well. The venue was of course, the Inn at Carnall Halland the flowers, white and green hydrangeas; Mary Kate’s own spin on this timeless flower choice.

For Mary Kate’s bouquet, we used white hydrangeas, tulips, and gardenias accented with crisp green salal. It was fluffy and ethereal and complemented her classic strapless A-line gown perfectly. The bridesmaid’s carried matching, smaller bouquets featuring only hydrangeas and next to their pale blue dresses, they looked like beautiful floral clouds. For Perry’s boutonniere we designed with a single white gardenia bloom and his groomsmen’s featuring white ranunculus.

For their church ceremony at St. Paul’s, we designed two tall altar arrangements for the altar’s urns using mini green hydrangeas, white hydrangeas, white stock, and fresh green sword ferns. The flower girls wore beautiful baby’s breath crowns as they made their way down the aisle to welcome the bride.

For the reception, we turned a tent outside of Carnall Hall into a white and green wonderland. Upon entry, guests were greeted with column arrangements designed with hydrangeas and fern fronds. The Inn’s railings were covered in a garland of Italian Ruscus and white hydrangeas. We decked the cocktail area out in mixed arrangements featuring tulips, ranunculus, and of course more hydrangeas. The bar even featured a cylindrical glass vase we lined with limes and placed huge white hydrangeas in! It was amazing!

For dining the tables, we contrasted tall, crystal vases filled with luscious ferns with two smaller scale arrangements. We designed mint juleps filled with white tulips and ranunculus and then finished the tables off with clear vases lined with aspidistra ribbon filled with green and white hydrangeas. As the pies de resistance, we accented the gorgeous 4-tierd cake from Shelby Lynn’s Cake Shoppe with a mix of silk and fresh hydrangeas. The end result was truly jaw-dropping.
