Food For Thought: SETH GODIN’S recent BLOG

On Sunday mornings, I like to catch up on my blog reading. Seth Godin is one of my favorite. Seth’s posts are almost always thought provoking.  Sometimes you need to sit with it a moment. Sometimes they hit you hard & fast. Sometimes they are mind-changing & sometimes they are affirming.  They’re never long, but they are always powerful. Of the 5 that I recently read, one (Digital Hygeine) was particually affirming.

These two lines, in particular resonated.

“The solution is fun and simple: find a smart person and have them watch you…”

“…power brings choices, and you may need some help with your choices.”

Mountain Top Wedding Reception

Why did it resonate so much for me? Well, I’ve been working on offering mentoring/coaching recently & as with all new business ventures, I’ve had to define what I’m doing as well as why & how.  These 2 quotes define the why. Why am I offering this? Because sometimes you may need help with your choices & sometimes you may need shortcuts & principles that come from outside experience. It’s not about knowing the One True Way. It’s about having experience and knowledge that comes from 25 years of Doing The Things AND about being willing to share it with you. Sometimes you just need someone to watch you and help you with the choices.

Intrigued? Give me a call (479-973-0588) or shoot me an email (althea@roseofsharonar.com) and we’ll chat.

Mother's Day at Rose of Sharon

We design for more than just weddings at Rose of Sharon. At Mother’s Day, we work with you to design something perfect for every mom — grandmoms, step-moms, those who are like a mom to you! Flowers are sure to make these wonderful women feel special and loved.

Farm & Garden Grown Collection

Now that spring is in full swing, we’ve brought back our popular FARM & GARDEN GROWN COLLECTION.

We love partnering with local growers to use locally grown, FRESH flowers in our creative, one-of-a-kind designs. Each unique arrangement in this collection is made with at least 75% locally grown items!

The local blooms and foliage change from year to year. For example, last year at this time anemones and ranunculus were perfect and peonies weren’t quite blooming yet. This year, the anemone and ranunculus crops are almost done blooming, but peonies are perfect! No matter what’s in season, local blooms are always perfect for Mother’s Day arrangements.

When you order from our Farm & Garden Collection, you’re supporting TWO local businesses while celebrating Mom: your local flower farmer AND your local floral artist!

We have a wide array of fresh flowers and fresh flower arrangements available — something for every mom! We deliver to Fayetteville, Springdale, Farmington, Greenland, Johnson, Tontitown, and Lowell.

Rose of Sharon is 21!
21yrs.jpg

April 17, 1998. This was the beginning. The day Rose of Sharon officially began.

In 1998, I designed FOUR weddings. Last year, we designed over 75 weddings and events.

In 1998, I was 24. You can do the math for 2019. :D

In 1998, the internet was barely a thing. In 2019, it’s everything!

In 1998, roses and Stargazer Lilies were popular. In 2019, garden roses, peonies, and ranunculus are my most requested flowers.

I could go on and on and on…21 years means lots and lots of memories, designs, weddings, and events. But instead, I’ll just show you some of my favorite photos from the last 10ish years (because there are no digital photos from 1998!)

Enjoy!

Amazing wedding from 2005!

Through the years, we’ve worked in some absolutely beautiful venues and locations, including (but absolutely NOT limited to):

Our arrangements have ranged from simple to elaborate. We’ve had the chance to design very large weddings, simple elopements, themed events, and corporate receptions. We’ve gotten the chance to work with flowers from all over the world and with flowers grown by local farmers. Our flowers have been in celebrity planes and everyday homes. We’ve given children their first flowers and helped families say goodbye to loved ones.

Finally, a great big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us make it this far!

Oh, and here’s a peackcok we made with orchids….because it was just COOL to make this!
