Organic Modern Wedding Bouquets
Photographer: Karen Obrist
On a sunny and bright day in Washington DC, a group of florists from around the country took part in a Bouquet Bootcamp course with the lovely Amy, better known at, The Floral Coach! The class was centered an organic, modern style that I am working on perfecting. Even though I’ve been designing for over 24 years (our 24 year anniversary was on April 17th,) there is always room to learn, grow, and challenge oneself as a designer. Amy provided each of us the same ingredients and we each designed 2 bouquets, with each individual florists’ work, different than the next.
For the first, we used yellow butterfly ranunculus , purple scabiosa, peach spray roses, and agonis. I loved the yellow and purple combo!
For the second, PINK was the star. Pink carnations, spray roses, tulips, and standard roses were accented with tons of fresh, green foliage.
I love challenging myself and developing my skills as a florist! And I can’t decide which bouquet I like better. Check out the images below and pick your fave for yourself.

Last year I designed for an amazing elopment photoshoot at Stone Chapel at MattLane Farm. It featured two amazing grooms, beautiful white blooms and a whole lot of love. Allyship is incredibly important to us at Rose of Sharon so we are truly grateful to all of our queer couples for entrusting us to design for your special day.
Miles and Quincy saw the shoot we did on Instagram and loved the vibe! Next thing you know, we’re designing for their July 2024 wedding at Theatre Squared in Fayetteville.
