Inspiration vs. Interpretation: Classic Fall Bouquet

Creating a wedding based on an inspiration photo is an artistic process that requires a delicate balance between replication and innovation. As an artist, my aim is not to duplicate the inspiration directly but to capture its essence and translate it into a unique, personal experience.

The process begins with a deep understanding of the inspiration photo. In our case, the inspiration photo had a classic fall vibe with rosehips, antique green hydrangeas, peach roses and white garden roses. Understanding what’s important to the client forms the foundation of my design. In this case, the client loved the shape and colors of the inspiration photo but she wasn’t set on any specific flowers.

Next, I consider the couple and their story. A wedding should reflect the couple's personalities and shared experiences. I also believe that a wedding should reflect the couple’s values. The key here is to transform and adapt the inspiration, not to copy it. For example, to better meet the client's budget, we used peach spray roses, white standard roses, and hypericum berries in place of the more expensive flowers in the inspiration photo. This approach kept the classic fall feeling but better met the client's other requirements.

Finally, it's the finer details that I particularly focus on. These seemingly small elements can significantly influence the overall feel of the event. For instance, the inspiration photos had a bright, natural style due to the photographer's approach, leading me to closely match the flower colors to those in the inspiration images. If the photographer had used a moodier filter, we might have opted for terra cotta and peach roses complemented with burgundy berries instead. Each detail provides an opportunity to reflect the mood captured in the inspiration photo while adding a personal touch.

In the end, the goal is to create a wedding that feels inspired by the photo but is distinctly unique. It's about capturing the vibe, not duplicating the image.

PS-the client LOVED her flowers!
